White Wall Trend
As much as I was delighted to see an emergence of very dark even black accent walls and whole rooms- Maybe it’s just me but I’m noticing white walls coming back in a fresh new way- as a backdrop to punches of color, interesting pattern mixes, and also in neutral, monochromatic spaces. I think the idea of white walls being sterile or boring have maybe created the overuse of beige paint which can have the same “blah” effect and even worse- the wrong toned beige can make walls look dingy- but I digress-
Whites innately feel fresh, clean, and crisp that as I mentioned before- is a wonderful background to make your colors, finishes and patterns really pop- creating contrast without the use of a lot of black. Contrast = interest.
In the form of a monochromatic/neutral space (white on white on white) this creates a clean “fresh out of the dryer “ calming effect that is so perfect for a bedroom:
My favorite is a white room with wood pieces- there's something so warm and natural about this combo that I love:
I guess Benjamin Moore was totally right in naming Simply White (#OC-117)their 2016 Color of the Year! What do you think? Love it? Hate it? Scared of it? Let me know!
